Predeceased by parents, Howard and Pearl Billings; nephew, Richard "Little Rick" Billings. Survived by his wife, Ernestine Billings; brother, Richard (Lynda) Billings, sister Gail (Eddie) Fish; children Jeffrey (Ada) Billings, Scott (Shannon) Billings and Pamela (Jim) DeSando; grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Roger was born in Clifton Springs, NY on July 13, 1941. He graduated from Wayne Central High School and attended Morrisville University. He was drafted into the United States Army in March 1966 and served in the Vietnam War in the HHC, 575th Engineer Battalion until March 1968. He received an honorable discharge in March 1969. He married Ernestine Akins on April 6, 1968. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage. He was a self-employed contractor (Billings Construction). Roger enjoyed bowling and competed on Bowling for Dollars, a local television show in Rochester, NY. He was an avid camper, enjoyed frequent trips to the casinos and attended numerous Rochester Amerks hockey games. He was a longtime subscriber of the Democrat and Chronicle newspaper and read it daily until January 2024. In fact, when his sons were young, he helped them deliver the same newspaper. Roger retired in 2005 to devote his time to caring for his granddaughter. George S. Patton once said, "It is foolish and wrong to mourn the man who died. Rather we should thank God that such a man lived." All those that knew Roger are definitely thankful. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25 from 1-3 PM at the Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 3325 Winton Rd South, Rochester, NY 14623 with Roger's Funeral Service held on Monday, February 26 at 9 AM at All Seasons Chapel in White Haven Chapel 210 Marsh Rd, Pittsford NY 14534. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or Honor Flight Rochester in Roger's memory.
