Kathy passed away unexpectedly at the age of 65 on September 23, 2024, after a long battle with several health issues. She was born in Jackson, MI on March 19, 1959 to Ronald and Judie Town. As a very young child, the family moved to Ontario, NY. A 1977 graduate of Wayne Central High School, Kathy remained in the Rochester area for most of her life. Kathy and her family spent a few years in Ballston Spa, NY, and one year in Long Island, before moving back to the Rochester area for the remainder of her life, except for a short time living in Florida. Kathy grew up the oldest of six kids, seven when you count the family’s “adopted” sister from New York City, Arlene, who spent every summer in Ontario with the family growing up. Kathy was a great big sister to her five younger siblings. In 1993, Kathy helped organize what eventually became the first “Town Family Camping Reunion”. All six siblings, their families, and her Mom and Dad gathered for a week long camping event at Fairhaven State Park, NY. In 2024, the family gathered for the 28th Annual Town Family Camping Reunion. Kathy will be watching over the family as the tradition continues in the years to come. Kathy also loved live music, and especially enjoyed going to her husband Marty’s gigs, as he played in a band. She would joyfully dance to the music, regardless of whether anyone else joined in. Kathy also had and loved many pets throughout her life. She especially enjoyed the company of her dog Juliet, who passed a few years ago. She leaves behind her other dogs, Bianca and Penny. Kathy was very creative and loved crafting gifts for the family. Kathy had an affinity for both ladybugs and the graceful beauty of swans. In fact, her camper is aptly called The Ladybug and is painted in bright red with black spots…and even has antennae and eyes with eyelashes! Kathy also had a swan tattoo on her shoulder and will have a swan engraved on her grave marker. In her working years, Kathy was head bus driver for both the Wayne and Webster school districts, and also worked as a dispatch/scheduler for the Webster Transportation Office. Family was extremely important to Kathy, and she looked forward to every family gathering, including the weekly family video chats that have occurred since 2020. Kathy's strong passion for life and her love of family will continue on through the lives of all those she leaves behind. Kathy was predeceased by her mother, Elizabeth Judith “Judie” Town. Surviving are her father, Ronald Lynwood Town; husband, Martin John Strenczewilk; children, Heather Anne McArthur (Todd), Bryan Michael Hoffmann; step-children, Martin John Strenczewilk IV (Meghan), Rachel Ann Tomkins (Craig), Jonathon David Strenczewilk; siblings, Karen Louise Manning (Ken), Jeffrey Ernest Town (Debbie), Pamela Jean Town (Darlene), Curtis Lynwood Town, Bradley Everett Town (Rich), Arlene Patricia Schouenborg; brother-in-law, Donald Strenczewilk; grandchildren, Lia, Hunter, Delilah, Emelia, Henry, Luella, Elijah; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, with a visitation between 12:00-1:00 followed by a memorial service at 1:00 at Anthony Funeral Chapel, 1031 Ridge Road in Webster. Interment will be at South Jackson Community Church in Jackson, MI on Saturday, May 3, 2025. Those attending either service are asked to wear bright colors, as this was one of Kathy’s requests. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association-Rochester and Finger Lakes Regions in Kathy’s memory.
