Opponent: Batavia (Sectionals)

Final Score: Wayne 43 – Batavia 41

In a close match – the girls went on to win. Ahead at the half 22-17 they managed to keep the lead through a tight 3rd & 4th period. Nikki Sanchez was leading scorer with 14 points, 1 assist, 5 steals and 11 rebounds. Melissa Abbott added another 10 points with 5 assists, 2 steals and 6 rebounds. Kara Miller back in the game after an injury – added 7 points, 1 assist, 1 blocked shot and 4 rebounds. Jen Dehn had 4 points, with 1 blocked shot and 6 rebounds. Amanda Bridgeman (2 assists, & 4 rebounds), Megan O’Connor (2 assists & 1 steal), Tracy Hannon (1 blocked shot & 3 rebounds) and Julie Doyle all added 2 points each. Sarah Platenburg went into the game and had an assist. The girls will go on to play top seated Aquinas Saturday night at Aquinas 7:00 pm Good Luck to our Lady Eagles !!!!!!!

Down at the half 26-16 the girls could not get the baskets to fall the second half of the game against a tough defense. Melissa Abbott was high scorer for the night with 17 points, 1 assist and 1 steal. Nikki Sanchez added 11 points 2 assists and 1 steal. Tracy Hannon had 5 points ( one three pointer) 1 assist and 1 steal. Amanda Bridgeman (2 assists, 5 steals) and Kayla McNulty (1 assist and 1 steal both had 2 points each and Sarah Platenburg added 1 point to finish the scoring for Wayne. Megan O’Connor had 1 assist and Jen Dehn had 1 assist and 1 steal. Good Luck to the girls in the Sectional games. First one will be Wednesday 2-23-00 at 7:00 pm vs Batavia at Wayne. They girls will miss the seniors, but we wish them good luck !!!!!!

The girls started off recognizing the seniors for this year. Amanda Bridgeman, Sarah Platenburg, Nikki Sanchez and Megan O’Connor. Coach Karwick had a nice write up on each girl that was announced. The girls got off to a slow start not being able to make the baskets count or the free throws to get in. An exciting moment near the end of the first half, Nikki Sanchez was at the free throw line when the basket went in the game was stopped and the game ball given to NIKKI for making it her 1000 th point. First girl in the Wayne Central history to make this accomplishment !!!!!! What a great job!!!! Nikki led the scoring tonite to finish the game with 16 points, 2 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocked shots and 3 rebounds. Julie Doyle came off the bench to add 6 points,with 1 steal, Megan O’Connor added another 5 points (one three pointer) with 2 assists. Tracy Hannon (1 assist, 1 blocked shot and 5 rebounds), Melissa Abbott ( 3 assists, and 6 rebounds) and Jen Dehn (1 steal and 3 rebounds) all added 4 points each for Wayne. Kayla McNulty came in the fourth quarter to add another 2 points. Amanda Bridgeman had 2 assists.

Wayne ahead at the half 23 -15 came out with the win , Tracy Hannon was the high scorer tonite with 16 points, two of those being three pointers, 1 assist, , 2 steals and 4 rebounds!!! Nikki Sanchez added another 13 points , with one three pointer, 5 assists, 3 steals and 7 rebounds. Nice job girls. Melissa Abbott (2 assists, 3 steals and 6 rebounds) and Jen Dehn 4 steals and 11 rebounds) both added 5 point.s . Megan O’Connor had 3 points, 2 assists and 1 steal. and Julie Doyle and Kayle McNulty both added 2 points each for Wayne. Tonight was also Parents nights for the Varsity Girls – they recognized all the support their parents have given them through the year with a big hug and flowers!!!! Thanks to all our players and parents!!!!!!!!

The Wayne Varsity girls took a loss at Canandaigua – With a great 1st half Wayne was only trailing 33-23. We just could not come back in the second half of the game and Canandaigua had a 3rd quarter run. Nikki Sanchez was high scorer for Wayne with 17 points (one three pointer) , 3 rebounds, and 6 steals. Melissa Abbott added 6 points with 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Megan O’Connor ( 3 rebounds and one steal ) and Jen Dehn (4 rebounds) both added 4 points. Tracy Hannon had 3 points with 4 rebounds and 2 assists. And Sarah Platenburh finished with 2 points and one steal. Amanda Bridgeman came in to have 2 assists and one steal.

The Varsity girls also got off to a slow start trailing at the half 33 -11 and could not recover. Nikki Sanchez was the leading scorer for Wayne with 17 of these points (2 – three pointers), 4 rebounds and 1 steal. Megan O’Connor (1 assist) , Tracy Hannon (5 rebounds, 1 steal) and Melissa Abbott (2 assists, 2 steals and 8 rebounds) and Julie Doyle all added 2 points for Wayne Amanda Bridgeman came off the bench and had 2 assists and 3 rebounds along with Sarah Platenburg with 1 assist and 1 rebound.

A come from behind win for the Wayne Varsity girls – behind at the half 15-11 the girls came back in the second half for the win. Final Score Wayne 39 Midlakes 33. Nikki Sanchez was the team high scorer with 18 points (one three pointer) , 3 assists, 7 steals and 4 rebounds, with Melissa Abbott right behind her with 15 points ( 9 of these points came from the line off fouls), 2 assists, 2 steals and 9 rebounds. Tracy Hannon finished the scoring adding 6 points (one three pointer) 1 steal and 4 rebounds. Sarah Platenburg and Julie Doyle both had one assist and Jen Dehn had 8 rebounds.

Tough loss for our Lady Eagles at Mynderse. High Scorers for Wayne were Tracy Hannon with 13 points, (one three pointer) 1 assist , 1 blocked shot and 6 rebounds, with Melissa Abbott coming in right behind with 12 points,1 assist and a good defense with 7 steals and 3 rebounds. Nikki Sanchez added another 10 points (one three pointer) with 2 assists and one steal. And Megan O’Connor finshed the Wayne scoring with 2 points, one assist and a steal. Amanda Bridgeman can in and helped with 2 assists along with Julie Doyle’s assist .

The girls Varisty came up against a tough Victor team with a loss. They did alot of pressing in the first half and we had alot of turnovers. Nikki Sanchez led the Wayne scoring with 11 points ( one three pointer) with 4 steals and 3 assists. Tracy Hannon added 8 more points for the Lady Eagles with 8 rebounds and 1 blocked shot. Julie Doyle came off the bench to to help with the scoring with 6 points. Melissa Abbott had 4 points and 2 blocked shots and jen Dehn finished Wayne’s scoring with 2 more points and 1 assist. . Megan O’Conor, Amanda Bridgeman, Sarah Platenburg and Kayla McNulty were also on the court to help Wayne’s efforts.

A win for the Lady Eagles in a close game most of the night. Nikki Sanchez was once again hot on the rims being the leading scorer with 26 points ( 2 – three pointers) , 7 steals and 4 rebounds. Tracie Hannon was also on fire adding another 17 points( 1 – three pointer), 2 steals and 3 rebounds. Melissa Abbott added another 5 points with 2 rebounds and one steal . Megan O’Connor had 3 points and a spot on the highlight reel with an under the basket trick shot, 3 rebounds and one steal. Finishing the scoring was Jen Dehn with a good rebounding night – 10 reboundsand Julie Doyle (4 rebounds) both adding 2 points each. Nikki Sanchez was picked by a local radio station that was broadcasting the game as Player of the game and given an award and t-shirt.

Nikki Sanchez was the headliner with 29 points (her personal high) with 4 three pointers, 1 assist 6 rebounds and 2 blocked shots had an exceptional defensive and offensive game. Melissa Abbott was another big hitter adding 19 points – 1 assist 8 rebounds and two steals. Tracy Hannon played well both offensively and defensively adding 8 points and having 7 rebounds. Megan O’Connor helped with the scoring adding 4 points, along with Sarah Platenburg adding another 3 points with one assist. Kayla McNulty finished off the scoring for Wayne with 2 points. Jen Dehn had a good defensive game with 7 rebounds. A good win for the Girls !!!!!!!!!

Nikki Sanchez was the leaading scorer tonite with a whooping 24 points, 1 assist, 7 rebounds, and 5 steals. Tracy Hannon followed with another 13 points 6 rebounds and one steal. Jen Dehn starting in place of injured Kara Miller added 6 points, 8 rebounds, 1 steal, and one blocked shot. Adding to the scoring was Melissa Abbott with 4 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Finishing the scoring for the Varsity girls was Sarah Platenburg and Julie Doyle with 2 points each .

Nikki Sanchez ( 2 steals, 1 assist, and 7 rebounds) and Tracy Hannon (1 steal, 1 blocked shot and 2 rebounds) were high scorers for Wayne with 8 points each. Melissa Abbott (1 assist) added 4 points. Julie Doyle (off the bench – 2 assists) and Allison Leahy (off the bench 1 assist) both added another 2 points each. Sarah Plantenburg had 1 assist. Kara Miller (injured) had 1 steal and one block, one rebound . Amanda Bridgeman had one steal and two rebounds for Wayne. The baskets just were not falling tonite for the Wayne Girls !

Wayne won 41-40 taking third place in the tournament. They were behind at the half 24-19 and came back for the win and the final score of 41-40 Nikki Sanchez was high scorer with 12 points – 4 assists – 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Kara Miller with 7 points – 2 assists – and 5 rebounds along with Julie Doyle who came off the bench also with 7 points 1 assist , 1 steal and 5 rebounds. Melissa Abbott added 5 points 3 assists, 2 steals and 5 rebounds. Tracy Hannon added another 4 points and Megan O’Connor ( 6 rebounds), Jen Dehn (1 assist and 4 rebounds) , Amanda Bridgeman all added 2 points each. Nikki Sanchez received a trophy being named for the All Tournament Team from Wayne.

Nikki Sanchez was high scorer with 17 points ( 2 three pointers) and 8 rebounds. Kara Miller added 9 points with 9 rebounds and 5 blocked shots. Jen Dehn off the bench added another 6 points with 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Tracy Hannon added 4 points along with Melissa Abbott adding another 4 with 6 rebounds – 3 assists and 4 steals. Julie Doyle, Amanda Bridgeman and Megan O’Connor all added 2 points. It was a close game with Newark leading at the half 20-16. Wayne came within 2 points with 4.6 seconds on the clock . Wayne missed the final attempt at the buzzer to lose the game. Wayne Varsity girls will play tomorrow December 29th at 6 o’clock the consolation game against Bishop Kearney.

Melissa Abbott was the top scorer with 15 points and had 4 assists and 2 steals, Tracy Hannon had a good game with 10 points .Nikki Sanchez added 7 points with 3 assists. Ashley Jordan came off the bench to add 3 points – 3 assists, along with Amanda Bridgeman and Julie Doyle with 2 assists each.

Amanda Bridgeman had a solid defensive game against a tough offense Julie Doyle came off the bench late in the game and sparked the offense.
